What
is the primary focus of Pilates?
To develop the body and mind uniformly, while strengthening the body
as a whole. Concentrating on the Powerhouse to gain power and
grace.
I
am fifty years old. Can I do Pilates?
Yes! Joe Pilates did the Method into his 80's. Many seniors
in their 60's and 70's do Pilates several times a week.
Will
I develop large muscles?
No. We work to develop long, lean, defined muscles.
Can
I do Pilates when I am pregnant?
Pilates is the perfect regimen to prepare your body for pregnancy and
to remain flexible during your pregnancy. If you are not already ready
doing Pilates prior to conception it is not recommended that you begin
after becoming pregnant. However, Pilates is ideally suited for post-natal
recovery.
How
many times a week should I do Pilates?
We recommend three times a week. However, because Pilates is gentle
on the body and the muscles do not need a recovery period you can do
Pilates everyday.
Is
Pilates something I can eventually do on my own?
Yes. Once your instructor feels you are proficient in your routine and
safe on the equipment equipment you can work out for for the price of
a floor fee. Once you have learned your mat routine you can also do
this on your own.
I
have back problems. Will Pilates help with this?
Many people use Pilates to improve their back problems with excellent
results. When you strengthen the Powerhouse, change muscle
length, re-balance and relax the body, along with correcting your posture,
you alleviate many back problems and/or prevent them from occuring.
